Yet another medical devices company has decided to fund a two-phase project with QRDc, in order to solve some noise issues it is having with its enteral feeding pump.  These devices are meant to operate in hospitals around the country, and must do so in a peaceful, quiet manner.  The first phase of this project, which was recently completed by QRDc, was to develop an initial characterization of the problem.  This being complete, the second phase is now to identify what this designer and manufacturer can do to lower the offending noise levels without having too large of an impact on manufacturing and redesign costs.  The targeted noise level goal is 33 dBA … a reduction of roughly 20 decibels!
